Srijanshil Heritage Foundation

The Srijanshil Heritage Foundation operates out of Classic Apartments in Himayat Nagar. We are in Flat 303, which you get to by going down Street Number 11. Himayat Nagar is one of those older, established neighborhoods in Hyderabad that has a lot of character but can be a nightmare for parking. The building, Classic Apts, is an older structure, H.No. 3-6-704, and it has that sturdy feel of buildings from a few decades ago. Our office is fairly simple with a few wooden desks and shelves filled with books about local history and architecture. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby; you just walk in and someone will be there at a desk. Street 11 is a little bit tucked away from the main road noise, which helps when we’re trying to focus on our research. We spend a lot of our time documenting old sites and talking to people who remember how the city used to look. Sometimes we have visitors who are looking for advice on preserving old family homes. We usually have the fans going full speed because the high ceilings trap the heat in the afternoons. It’s a very grounded place to work, and being in a residential apartment makes the whole foundation feel more like a community project than a formal organization. We usually have tea together around four in the afternoon when the sunlight hits the balcony.
