Sri Sharan Sai Driving School

Down here in Saroor Nagar, we spend most of our daylight hours out on the roads. Sri Sharan Sai is a small operation, really just a few of us helping people get comfortable behind the wheel. Hyderabad traffic can be a real headache, as anyone living here knows, and teaching someone to navigate it takes a lot of patience. We usually start out in the quieter residential patches before we even think about hitting the busier stretches toward the main parts of town. It’s funny seeing how nervous people get the first time they have to shift into third gear. We’ve had all sorts of people walk through the door, from grandmothers wanting to run their own errands to teenagers who can't wait to get their license. The weather gets pretty intense in Andhra Pradesh, so those summer midday lessons can be a bit of a sweat, but we get through it. We aren't trying to be the biggest school around or anything like that. We just focus on getting the basics right, like reverse parking and not panicking when a rickshaw cuts you off. The paperwork can be a bit of a bore, but it’s part of the job. Most days end with us just being tired and ready to get home, but it feels good when a student finally gets their permit after a few weeks of trying hard. It's just simple work.
