Sri Sai Vaishnavi Kirana Stores

Our shop is tucked away in Chennareddy Lane, right there in the Vijayapuri Colony part of Tarnaka. If you live around South Lallaguda, you probably know where we are, on the ground floor of house number 12-5-32/15/2. It is shop number three, and it is a tight squeeze once we get all the sacks of rice and lentils inside. Sri Sai Vaishnavi Kirana Stores isn't some big fancy place with bright lights and sliding doors. We just have our racks filled with everything a kitchen needs, from turmeric powder to those big packets of detergent. Hyderabad summers get really hot, so we usually sit near the door to catch whatever breeze comes down the lane. We know most of the families living in the colony by their faces. People often send their kids down with a little note of things they need, like eggs or a liter of milk. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the neighbors while we weigh out the loose goods. Sometimes we run out of things like onions or specific spices, but we always get more in a day or two. The floor is just plain cement and the shelves have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the goods just fine. We don't do anything special, just open up every morning and wait for the regulars to stop by for their groceries. It is a quiet way to make a living.
