Sri Sai Santhosh Kirana General Store

The store is based in Kuntloor, specifically at Door No10/1 in the Rajeev Gruha Kalpa complex. This part of Hayat Nagar in Hyderabad is mostly residential, so our days are filled with people living nearby. We carry the basic groceries that every household needs like dals, rice, and cooking oils. Since we are right in the housing colony, children often run down to buy a single egg or a small packet of salt when their mothers are cooking. It is a simple setup without any fancy displays or cooling systems. We just have our wooden counters and the bags of grains stacked against the back wall. Kuntloor has been expanding quite a bit lately, so the roads are often under repair or there is construction noise nearby. We start our day early to receive the milk packets and bread loaves before the sun gets too high. There is a lot of counting and weighing involved when selling loose items to customers who only want a small amount. We know most of the people who live in Rajeev Gruha Kalpa, so there is always some talk about the weather or the local water supply while we pack their bags. It isn't a big operation, just me and a bit of help sometimes to move the heavier sacks. We stay open until fairly late so that people coming home from work in the city can pick up what they forgot.
