Sri Sai Kirana And General Stores

My shop, Sri Sai Kirana And General Stores, is over on Road No. 2 in Banjara Hills. The address is 8-2-269/313. It sounds complicated when you say it, but it is just a spot on a busy street. Banjara Hills has a lot of big houses and fancy offices, but people still need a place to buy their basic kirana items. I keep the shop open quite late because you never know when someone will need a light bulb or a packet of biscuits. The space is narrow, and I have filled every inch of the walls with shelves. I keep the cleaning supplies near the door and the food items further back. Sometimes the rain comes down hard on Road No. 2 and water starts to leak near the front shutter, so I have to pile up some old sacks. It is not a perfect place, but it is mine. I know most of the watchmen and drivers from the big houses nearby. They stop by for a chat and a smoke or a cold drink. I do not do any big advertising. People just know I am here. I have got an old radio that plays mostly news or old songs while I work. It fills the silence when the shop is empty. The life of a shopkeeper here is mostly about waiting and watching the cars go by.
