Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kirana &General Stores

Our shop is called Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kirana & General Stores and we are located in SR Nagar. If you live around here, you know how many little shops there are, but we have our own spot. It is just a standard kirana store where we sell rice, dals, and all the little things you need for a kitchen. The space is quite small, so we have to stack the bags of grain against the walls. It can be hard to move around when we have a lot of customers at once. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Most of the time, I am just standing behind the counter, weighing out items or counting change. The mornings are usually slow, giving us time to clean up a bit, but the evenings are a different story. Everyone comes at the same time after finishing their work. It gets a bit chaotic and sometimes people have to wait their turn on the pavement outside. We try to be quick, but we are only human. The fans overhead hum all day long to keep the air moving. We’ve known some of the families in SR Nagar for years and have seen their kids grow up. It is a decent way to make a living, even if it means we don't get many holidays. We just keep the shutters up and do our bit.
