Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Kirana Stores

I’ve been running this place at Golconda Chowrastha for a long time now. Most mornings start around six when I lift the heavy metal shutter and the street is still mostly quiet. There’s always a bit of dust on the counter that needs wiping before the first customers show up for their milk or tea powder. Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Kirana Stores is basically just a room full of things people need every day. I try to keep the sacks of rice and lentils organized, but sometimes it gets a bit messy when a big delivery comes in. My family helps out when it gets busy in the evenings. You can hear the traffic outside getting louder as the day goes on. It’s a small space, so things are stacked pretty high up to the ceiling. I know where everything is, even if it doesn't look like it to someone else. Some people come in just to chat for a minute while they buy their soap or matches. The light in here isn't the brightest, but it works fine for what we do. Sometimes the old fan makes a clicking noise that I keep meaning to fix but never get around to. It’s just a normal shop on a busy corner. We spend a lot of time counting out change and making sure the jars are full. It gets hot in the afternoons, but that’s just how it is here. I don't use a computer; I mostly use a notebook.
