Sri Durga Traders

Sri Durga Traders is over at 4-785-6 in the Railway Colony area. Being so close to the tracks means we hear every train that passes by. The ground shakes a little bit every few hours. You get used to it after a week or two. Now we don’t even look up when the express goes through. The shop itself is a bit tucked away, so it stays a little cooler than the main road shops. We handle a lot of different goods. Things are usually stacked up pretty high against the walls. It can be a bit of a maze in here on Mondays when the new stock arrives and we haven't found a place for everything yet. We have a couple of wooden chairs for anyone who needs to sit while we get their order ready. The lighting isn't the brightest, but we know where every single item is kept even in the dark. Most of our neighbors from the colony stop by throughout the day. We spend a lot of time sweeping the front step because of the soot from the old engines, even though most trains are electric now. It is a steady kind of life, counting out items and writing out slips by hand. We don't have a computer or anything like that. Just a pen and some carbon paper to keep our records straight. It helps us keep track of who owes what and what we need for the next week.
