Our place is over in Jeedimetla, at Plot No. 54 and 55 in Phase-III of the I.D.A. Sri Bhavani Metals Pvt. Ltd. is basically two big plots where we handle a lot of metal work every day. It’s not a quiet neighborhood at all. You’ve got the sounds of heavy sheets being moved and the constant rattle of the machinery in the background. We start very early because the afternoon heat in the sheds can get really intense, especially under the metal roofing. There’s no air conditioning in the main work areas, just big industrial fans that mostly just move the warm air around. We have a small office space for the files, but most of the time we are out on the floor checking the stacks or talking to the drivers. The roads around Phase-III are always busy with tractors and lorries. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life here. We don’t do anything fancy with our setup. It’s just stacks of metal and the equipment needed to move it. Most of us have been here for a long time and we know the quirks of the old machines. It’s a straightforward operation. We don't have a mission statement; we just make sure the orders are ready when the trucks show up at the gate in the morning.
