Sri Bhavani Kirana & General Store

Our shop is located at 11-3-416/22 in the Amber Nagar area of Parsigutta. It’s quite easy to find if you know where the Al Quba Masjid is, as we are very close to it. Being near the masjid means we see a lot of people coming and going for prayers, especially on Fridays. It’s a busy little corner of Hyderabad. I start my day by pulling up the shutters and dusting off the jars. We stock all the regular kirana and general items that a family needs. There’s always someone coming in for a last-minute onion or a packet of salt. The shop isn’t very large, so I have to be careful about where I put the new sacks of grain. Sometimes it feels like I’m playing a game of Tetris with the boxes. The neighborhood is friendly, and we’ve been here long enough that people just stop by to say hello even if they aren’t buying anything. I usually have the radio playing softly in the background to pass the time when it’s quiet. It’s not a complicated business. We buy things at the market and sell them here to the people who live nearby. It’s honest work and it keeps me busy from morning until night. I like seeing the same faces every day, it makes the work feel more like a community thing than just a job in a big city.
