I usually get here around seven in the morning to open up. The shutters are always a bit stiff in the rainy season, but that is just how it is in Abids. My father started this place a long time ago and we just kept it going because people around here need their daily things. We have bags of rice stacked in the back and the counter is always full of small change and plastic jars of candy for the kids who come by after school. It gets quite hot in the afternoons so the old ceiling fan stays on all day long. Sometimes the delivery guys are late with the milk or the bread, and then I have to explain to the aunties from the flats nearby why we don't have it yet. It is a simple life and we know most of the people who walk through that door by their first names or at least their faces. We stock the usual stuff like soaps, dal, oil, and whatever else people ask for. The shelves are a bit crowded and maybe there is some dust on the top ones that I haven't reached in a while. But we are here every day from morning until late night. It is just a regular shop in Hyderabad where we try to keep things organized enough so you can find what you need without too much trouble. Nothing fancy happening here, just work.
