Shanakar Bhavani Kirana & General Store

At Shanakar Bhavani Kirana & General Store, we deal with the basic stuff people need at home. We are based in the Kavadiguda area of Hyderabad. It is a busy neighborhood and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop isn't very large, so things are stacked high up to the ceiling. You can find almost any kitchen staple here if you look long enough. We spend our days chatting with neighbors who come in for a kilo of flour or some tea leaves. The 500080 area is where we live and work. We don't really have a big staff, just us family members taking turns behind the counter. Sometimes we forget to restock the biscuits, but we always have plenty of rice. The sunlight hits the front of the shop in the afternoon and makes it quite warm. We use old scales to weigh things out. It’s a very simple setup. No air conditioning or bright neon signs here. Just a humble business. We try to remember everyone's name. It makes the day go faster. If you need something for dinner, we are usually open until late evening. Life in Hyderabad is fast, but inside our store, things move a bit slower. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person to walk in. It is a lot of work, but we like being here for the community.
