Down in Ibrahim Bagh, we have our yard called Scrap Form where we collect and sort through all kinds of metal. It is a bit of a mess most of the time, with piles of old iron pipes, plastic bits, and sheets of metal piled up in different corners. We spend the morning hours weighing everything and trying to sort what can be sold again from what is just plain trash. It’s heavy, dirty work, and usually, my back is aching by the time we pack it in for the day. The dust from the road in Ibrahim Bagh gets into everything, so we are always wiping down the scales. People bring us stuff they find in their sheds or leftovers from construction sites nearby. We don't have a fancy office, just a small desk in the corner of the shed where we keep the cash and the receipts. Some days are slow and we just sit and sort through smaller bins of copper wire, which takes a lot of patience. Other days, trucks are coming in one after another and it gets pretty hectic. We’ve been in this spot for a while now, and the neighbors are used to the clanking sounds of metal hitting metal. It isn't glamorous work, but it’s what we do to keep things moving. We just focus on sorting the piles and getting them ready to be hauled away to the bigger plants. That is how a normal day goes here.
