Our shop is located at House No 5-7-509/1 right on the Nampally X Road. If you know where Deccan Achar is, we are directly opposite to it. The smell of the pickles from across the street is always there in the air. Me and my brother run this place together, and it is usually a bit of a mess because we have so many crates of soda and bags of grain stacked up. Nampally is a very busy part of Hyderabad, so there is never a quiet moment. We have been here for years, just selling basic things like dal, oil, and soap. The counter is made of old wood and it is worn down in the spots where people lean. We don't have a fancy sign or bright lights. Most of our customers are locals who have been living in these lanes for decades. They come in to chat as much as they do to buy things. Sometimes we sit on the wooden crates outside when the shop gets too hot in the summer. We use a lot of old newspapers to wrap up the items people buy. It is hard work staying open until late at night, but that is when a lot of the workers come by to get their groceries. We just take things one day at a time here, making sure we have enough stock for the next morning. It is a busy life but it is what we know.
