Dharma Nagar is a specific little pocket of Banjara Hills that feels a bit different from the main commercial roads. My place is at House Number 8-2-548/25 on Road Number 7. I’ve lived around here for quite a while, and I’ve seen the city grow up around us. It’s a lot of hills and narrow turns. Living and working from here means I don’t have to deal with the long commutes most people do, but I still hear the city noise. The house is old-fashioned, nothing like the glass buildings you see a few blocks away. I usually spend my time in a small room I’ve converted into my work area. It has a window that looks out onto the street, so I see the neighbors walking their dogs or the delivery bikes zooming past. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so I’m always wiping down my table. I don’t really have a big staff or a fancy lobby. People who need to see me usually just call and come over to the house. We sit in the front room and talk. It’s a very local way of doing things. I like the independence of it. There is always some small repair needed around the house, or the garden needs watering. It’s just a normal life, really. I keep my own hours and try to stay on top of the tasks I have for the week.
