Satya Sai Kirana Store

If you walk down Hmt Nagar in Nacharam, you’ll find our little spot at number 9-162. We’ve been running this kirana store for quite some time. It’s a simple setup with rows of shelves reaching up to the ceiling. We try to keep everything in its place, but when things get busy, it can get a bit cluttered behind the counter. Nacharam is a crowded area, so there’s always someone popping in for a packet of biscuits or some cooking oil. The noise from the street stays with us all day, and you get used to the sound of scooters zooming past. We spend a lot of time counting out change and checking the dates on the milk packets. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we have to move stuff around to make space in the back room. It’s a small shop, so we have to be smart about where we put things. We don't have fancy lights or big signs, just the basic stuff that families in Hmt Nagar need every day. The neighbors come by and we know who likes which brand of tea or who usually pays at the end of the month. It's a lot of work keeping track of everything, and my back usually hurts by five o'clock. But the shop is part of the street now. We just keep the lights on and help the people who live nearby with their groceries.
