S. V. GARMENT MACHINERY

Our workshop is on the first floor, right above the Blue Dart office in the SVCIE area of Balanagar. Being right opposite the IDPL makes it pretty easy for people to find us, though the traffic on that road can be a bit of a nightmare during rush hour. At S. V. Garment Machinery, we share the building with a few other businesses, so there is a lot of movement on the stairs. Inside, it’s a typical machinery shop. We have different types of garment machines set up for display or repair. It’s not a showroom with bright lights and carpets. It’s more of a place where you can come and see how the machines actually work. We usually have a few machines stripped down for parts or being serviced on the floor. The air smells like machine oil and metal. We spend a lot of time talking to factory owners and mechanics who need parts or advice on their setups. There’s a small desk where we handle the billing and the phone calls, but most of our time is spent standing around the equipment. The windows look out over the industrial estate, and you can see the trucks moving in and out all day. It’s a busy, dusty part of town, but it’s where all the action is for our kind of work. We keep things simple and just focus on the machines and getting them running.
