Rural Skills Research Foundation

The Rural Skills Research Foundation is located right beside the MRO office in Chandampet Mandal. We are out here in Nalgonda, and the location makes it easy for local folks to find us since the government office is such a well-known landmark. Our building is simple and doesn’t have any of those modern glass walls you see in the city. It’s just a few rooms where we keep our research notes and equipment. We spend a lot of our time traveling to nearby villages to see how people are using their skills and what kind of work is actually happening on the ground. When we are back at the office, it’s mostly about writing things down and trying to organize our findings. The 508258 area is our home base. It’s often dusty and the fans in the office make a bit of a rattling noise, but it works for us. We don't have a big budget for decorating, so the walls are mostly bare except for a few calendars. Most of the staff grew up in this part of Nalgonda, so we have a good connection with the community. We aren't here to put on a show. We just want to document the skills that keep this rural area moving. It’s steady work and we take it one day at a time. Sometimes we stay late finishing up reports, but mostly we just stick to a regular routine.
