Royal Lace Industries

Royal Lace Industries is run out of R.K. Nagar in Safil Guda. The address is actually House Number 22-65/1, which belongs to Y. Ramachandra Murthy. It’s more of a home-based business than a factory. We have several machines set up in the back rooms where we work on different types of lace. The neighborhood is mostly families, so it stays pretty quiet except for the sound of our equipment. We spend our days watching the threads and fixing any snags that happen. It’s detailed work and can be a bit hard on the eyes after a few hours. We don’t have any big marketing brochures or a fancy office. Most people just find us through word of mouth or because they live nearby. My sister helps with the sorting and the packing. We keep all the lace rolls on wooden racks we built ourselves. Sometimes the cats from the street wander in and we have to shoo them away from the threads. The sun comes through the windows in the afternoon and makes the whole place feel warm. We aren't trying to grow into some huge company. We just like making the lace and keeping things simple at home. It’s a steady way to spend the day. We’ve been here for a long time and the neighbors don't seem to mind the hum of the machines. It’s just our regular daily routine.
