Riyaz Kirana

Riyaz Kirana is just a small shop here in Hyderabad, specifically in the King Koti area at house number 3-5-782/69. I’ve been running this place for a good while now and it’s mostly just me and sometimes a family member helping out when things get busy in the evenings. Most of our days start pretty early because people around here need their milk and bread before they head off to work or take their kids to school. It’s a bit of a tight space inside but we manage to keep all the basic groceries like rice, dal, and different kinds of spices that everyone uses daily. You know how it is in a local neighborhood, everyone knows everyone else and we usually end up chatting about the weather or how the local traffic is getting worse every year. Sometimes the deliveries from the wholesalers arrive late and I have to spend time sorting out boxes in the back room while trying to look after the customers at the front. It is not fancy work but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. People stop by for small things they forgot to buy at the bigger markets, maybe a packet of biscuits or some tea leaves. The address is 500001, so we are right in the heart of the city which means there’s always noise and movement outside. I just try to keep the shelves filled and the floor swept as much as I can during the day.
