Reddy Stores

If you are driving down the main road in Attapur near Hyderguda, you will see Reddy Stores right near Pillar No. 137. That pillar is a good landmark because the traffic can get pretty heavy around here and it is easy to miss the smaller shops. We have a bit of a step up to get into the store, and once you are inside, you will see we carry mostly the daily essentials. I keep the cigarettes and matches near the front counter because people on their way to work usually stop for those. Further back, we have the larger bags of grain and the cooking oils. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they are covered mostly by shelves anyway. I have been working here for a long time, and I have seen the whole area change with the new flyover and the pillars going up. My routine is always the same, opening up early and sweeping the front area before the heat starts. We get a lot of two-wheelers pulling over quickly for a cold drink or a snack. It is a busy spot, and sometimes I do not even have time to sit down for lunch until late in the afternoon. The shop is practical and serves the folks living in the surrounding streets who do not want to go all the way to a big supermarket for a single kilo of sugar.
