Ravi Kiran Kirana & General Stores is over at 16-11/477/8 in Shalivhananagar. Dilsukhnagar is one of the busiest parts of Hyderabad, and our little corner is no different. The 500036 area is always full of students and people rushing to work. I spend my day at the store, usually surrounded by sacks of rice and boxes of different types of dal. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around to make sure the oldest stock gets sold first. I have a small desk where I keep my accounts, mostly just scribbles in a thick diary. The shop can get quite warm in the afternoons, so I keep the door wide open to catch any breeze from the street. There is always a lot of dust from the construction nearby, so I’m forever cleaning the counters. Most of our customers are people from Shalivhananagar who have been coming here for years. They don't need to tell me what they want; I usually already know. We carry everything from spices to cleaning supplies. It is a bit disorganized sometimes, with crates stacked in the corners, but we manage to find what people are looking for. I don't really have a set time to close, just when the street starts to get quiet. It is just a regular life running a kirana shop in a busy city like Hyderabad. You just take the orders, pack the bags, and keep the shelves full.
