Rama Kirana & Genaral Store

If you walk through Kandoji Bazar in the General Bazaar area of Kalasiguda, you’ll find us at door number 3-6-2412. This part of town is always crowded, and our shop is right in the middle of all that noise. We’ve been running Rama Kirana & Genaral Store for many years now. It’s a family thing. My brother and I take turns sitting at the counter. We sell all kinds of pulses, spices, and soaps. The space is a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the small room. Sometimes the bags of flour are stacked so high you can barely see the back wall. We don’t have those fancy scanners or computers; we still use a calculator and give hand-written bills if someone needs one. Most people just pay cash and go. It gets very busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. People stop by to pick up milk or a packet of biscuits. We know the lady from the house across the street always wants a specific brand of tea, so we keep it aside for her. It is a lot of work, staying open until late at night, but this is what we do. The market is competitive, but since we are right here in the bazaar, people find it convenient to just pop in. We just try to keep the shelves full and the customers happy with what they find here.
