Sartaj Enterprises

Sartaj Enterprises is right there at Wadi-e-Mahmood. If you get lost, just look for Pillar No. 235; we are directly opposite it. It’s No. 4-25-5/11/5. That pillar is basically our north star for anyone trying to find the place. The road is always loud with cars and bikes zooming past, and the dust can be a real pain if we leave the windows open too long. Inside, it’s a different story. We’ve got our own little rhythm going. We handle a lot of different things here, and there’s always a crate or a box that needs moving. The walls are painted a pale color that’s faded over the years, and we have calendars from three years ago still hanging up because nobody bothered to take them down. It’s a lived-in space. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. You just walk in and someone will help you out between their tasks. We spend a lot of time on the phone, and the tea guy comes by twice a day, which is the highlight for most of us. It’s a tough spot to work sometimes with the heat and the noise, but we’ve been here so long that the city sounds just fade into the background. We just keep moving, trying to stay on top of the orders and making sure the inventory is right. There is always someone around to share a joke during the slow afternoons.
