The shop is down on Distillery Road in Ranigunj. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty crowded near the railway bridge. We’ve been working out of House No. 5-4-42 for a long time. It’s a bit noisy with the trains passing by and the traffic, but we’ve gotten used to it. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of tubes and pipes of all different sizes. We spend most of our mornings unloading trucks and getting things stacked up properly. It’s heavy work, and our hands are usually covered in grease or rust by lunchtime. We don't have any fancy air conditioning or a front desk with a receptionist. You just walk in and talk to whoever is standing by the cutter. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the day fixing them instead of working on orders. That's just how it goes in a small factory like this. We handle a lot of metal, so it gets hot in the summer months. My brother and a couple of workers handle the heavy lifting. We mostly deal with local builders and guys who need specific lengths of tubing for their own projects. We don't do much talking; we just listen to what’s needed and get the saw moving. It’s been our family trade for a bit. Nothing too complicated, just making sure the tubes are straight and the cuts are clean before they head out.
