Praveen Kumar Cool Drink

My place is called Praveen Kumar Cool Drink and it’s over in the Gowli Guda area of Hyderabad. The address is 15-2-69/1, and we are very close to the Telephone Exchange, which is the main landmark around here. Since I mostly sell cold drinks and water, the hum of the refrigerators is the main sound you hear in the shop. It gets incredibly hot in this part of the city, so people are always stopping in for something cold to drink. The shop is quite small, just enough space for the coolers and a small counter for me to sit behind. I have a few plastic crates stacked up outside for people to sit on if they want to drink their soda right there. The road is often dusty because of all the traffic going towards the exchange, so I spend a lot of time wiping down the bottles. I don't really sell snacks or groceries, just drinks and maybe some small packets of biscuits. It’s a simple business but it keeps me very busy during the summer months. In the rainy season, things slow down quite a bit and I just sit and watch the rain hit the pavement. I’ve been at this spot for a few years now and most of the auto drivers nearby know me well. They stop by for a quick drink during their breaks. It’s not a big company or anything, just a small stall that serves the local people in Gowliguda when they are thirsty.
