We have been running this small shop in Huda Colony for many years now. It’s a simple setup in Attapur where we mostly just focus on keeping the shelves stocked with the things people use every day. Most of our mornings start quite early, around six, because that is when the milk packets arrive and the neighbors come by for their daily supplies. We spend a lot of time checking the sacks of rice and making sure the packets of biscuits are not nearing their dates. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have a couple of old fans that hum all day long. Sometimes the delivery crates pile up near the entrance and we have to move them out of the way so people can get inside easily. The kids from the nearby houses often come in for small candies or notebooks. We know most of the families around here by name. It’s a quiet life, just sitting behind the counter and helping someone find a particular brand of soap or a specific type of dal. When it rains, the water sometimes splashes near the door, so we keep a mop handy. We don't have any big goals or fancy systems. It’s just us making sure the colony has what it needs without having to travel too far. We close up late in the evening once the street lights come on and the traffic settles down. It's just a regular local business.
