Being in Kukatpally means there is never a dull moment. It’s a loud area and we are right in the thick of it. Most days start early with the staff checking the equipment and making sure the rooms are ready for whoever comes through the door. We see a lot of families from the surrounding apartments. It’s a practical place, nothing too shiny, just floors and rooms where people come when they aren't feeling well. We spend a lot of time on our feet. Sometimes the tea lady comes by and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. It’s a job like any other, but you get to see a lot of different people. Some stay for a few hours, some for days. We try to keep the paperwork straight, though it piles up fast. The lobby gets messy on rainy days when everyone brings in their umbrellas. It’s just how things go. We don't spend time writing big speeches about what we do. We just do it. If you live in this part of town, you probably passed by the building a dozen times. We are just part of the local scenery now. The shift changes are the busiest times because everyone is trying to swap info and get home. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you aren’t used to it, but we help people find their way. We aren't a corporate giant, just a local hospital trying to keep up with the neighborhood's needs.
