The building we are in at No. 9-47 Hanuman Nagar Boduppal isn't very old but it feels like we’ve been here forever. We started Normak Fashions with just a few machines and now the whole place is full of fabric rolls and thread. It gets quite loud when all the machines are running at the same time, especially in the afternoon when we are trying to finish up the batches. Most of our workers live nearby in Boduppal so they just walk or take a short cycle ride to get here. We make a lot of different clothes, mostly stuff that people wear every day. Sometimes a shipment comes in late and we have to stay back to sort it out. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and cloth scraps, no matter how much we sweep. We have a small office area where we keep the books and talk to the guys who come to pick up the orders. It’s not a corporate office or anything like that, just a desk with a lot of papers and some old chairs. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the weather while we work. The power goes out sometimes and we just have to wait it out or use the generator if it’s really busy. It’s just a regular place where we try to get the work done right every day.
