This is Nizam College, right in the heart of Basheerbagh here in Hyderabad. We’ve been at this location for a really long time, and the old buildings definitely show all those years of history. It’s a large campus with plenty of stone structures, big windows, and high ceilings that keep things somewhat cool in the summer. Being in such a busy part of the city means there’s always a lot of traffic and noise outside the walls, but once you’re inside the gates, it feels a bit more settled. Students come from all over Telangana and even further away to study here. We have all the usual departments like arts, science, and commerce. The hallways are almost always full of people rushing to their next class or just sitting around the canteen talking. It’s certainly not the most modern place you’ll ever visit, and some of the wooden benches have names carved into them from decades ago, but it has a lot of soul. We handle a huge amount of paperwork and the usual office work every day, which can get a bit slow or frustrating at times. The staff just tries to keep things moving along as best as we can. There’s a big open field where the students play cricket or football, though it gets pretty dusty in the heat of the summer months. It’s just a solid, old institution that keeps going through the seasons and changing times.
