People in Attapur know where we are because of Pillar 101. It’s a busy spot on Moghal Nagar Road. I usually get here early to pull up the shutter. The dust from the road gets on the shelves, so there is a lot of cleaning to do every single morning. We have all the basic things like dal, rice, and different kinds of soaps. Sometimes kids come in after school for a packet of chips or some sweets. It gets very crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming back from work. I’ve been sitting in this shop for a long time now. You see the same faces every day. Mrs. Rao from the building next door always asks for a specific brand of tea that I have to keep aside for her. The weather in Hyderabad is getting hotter these days, so the fan stays on all day. It’s a small place at Shop No 13-6-431/C/48, but it fits everything we need to sell. If someone needs a kilo of sugar or just a single matchbox, they come here. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just wooden shelves and glass jars. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road and people complain. That’s just how it is in this part of town. I try to keep the stock full so nobody has to go elsewhere for their daily cooking needs. It’s just a regular life here at the store.
