Nilgiris Super Market

Running a place like Nilgiris Super Market here in Sultan Bazar-Koti takes up most of my time. Our address is Shop. No. 4-5-840, which is right across from Shanti Fabrics in the Badichowdi area. It is a busy part of Hyderabad. The shop is not huge, but we make use of every inch. I usually arrive before the sun gets too high to check the milk and bread deliveries. People in this neighborhood have been coming to us for years. You see the same faces every morning. The floor tiles are a bit chipped near the entrance because of all the foot traffic. We don't have a big corporate team; it is just us and a couple of helpers. Sometimes the billing machine acts up and we have to do things by hand for a bit. It gets crowded on weekends when everyone is out shopping in Sultan Bazar. We try to keep things fresh, but it is a lot of work. The shelves are packed with everything from spices to snacks. If you stand by the door, you can hear the traffic and the vendors shouting outside. It is just a normal store doing its best every day. We don't do anything fancy with the decor. It is just a place to get what you need for your kitchen and go home. It gets dusty, the fans hum, and we stay busy until we pull the shutters down late at night.
