Nidhi General Store

Nidhi General Store is located at Shop No 4 on the Gowli Guda Main Road. It is a very old part of Hyderabad, and it feels like it sometimes. We are quite close to the Old Bus Stop, so there is never a quiet moment with all the buses and autos honking. The shop is full of all sorts of things, from plastic buckets hanging from the ceiling to small packets of spices on the shelves. I was just trying to sort through the stationery section because the pens always get mixed up. It is a bit dark inside the shop compared to the bright street outside, but that keeps it a little cooler. I have a small radio that I keep on low volume just to have some background noise. People around here usually know what they want and they do not like to wait long. I spend a lot of time weighing out sugar and pulses into smaller plastic bags. The counter is high, and I have to stand on a small wooden step sometimes to reach the items on the very top shelf. The paint on the sign outside is starting to peel a bit because of the rain last month. It is not anything special to look at, just a place where you can find what you need for the house without going too far. I have lived in this neighborhood a long time, so I know most of the families who live nearby.
