Metro Kirana & General Store

This store is tucked away at 3-5-782/3/3 in the King Koti area. We call it Metro Kirana & General Store, though it’s just a regular kirana shop like any other. Hyderabad is a big city, but this little corner feels a bit more personal. We sell the basic things like pulses, oil, and spices. I spend a lot of my day weighing out items and putting them in bags. The location is right in the middle of everything, so we get a lot of foot traffic. It’s not a quiet job. The noise from the street is always there. We keep the doors open so people can see what we have. Sometimes the bins of grains get a bit messy, but that’s just part of the work. I don't use any high-tech systems here. Just a pen and paper mostly. Most people who come in live in the surrounding apartments. They might just need one thing they forgot for dinner. I just charge what seems right so they come back. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside when more than three people are browsing. We’ve been part of the 500001 community for quite some time now. It’s a lot of long hours standing on the concrete floor, but it’s what we do. Just a simple kirana store for the locals. We just want to make sure the bins are full and the customers leave with what they needed for their kitchen.
