Meenakshi Tube Syndicate is over at 6-1-21 in Walker Town. If you come looking for us, you’ll see we are mostly about metal and hardware. The place is full of tubes and pipes of all different sizes. It is quite a heavy environment. You can smell the metal and the oil as soon as you step inside. We don't have a fancy front office or soft chairs for people to sit on. It is more of a warehouse feel where things are stacked according to their weight and diameter. We spend a lot of time moving these things around, which is hard work. Walker Town is a decent area but it gets quite busy with commercial vehicles. Our shop floor is concrete and it has a few cracks in it from years of dropping heavy iron pieces. We keep a ledger for all the stock because it's easier than relying on a computer that might act up when the dust gets into it. Most of the people who come here are looking for something very specific for a plumbing job or some construction. They don't stay long. They get what they need, we settle the bill, and they head off. It’s a simple way to run a business. We have been doing this for a while and we just stick to what we know best. The ceiling is high but it still gets stuffy when the sun hits the metal shutters in the late afternoon. We just focus on getting the right sizes for everyone.
