Our hospital is right there in Akberbagh, Malakpet, basically right across from Devi Kirana and General Store. If you know that shop, you know where we are. It’s a busy corner of the neighborhood. The building is at 16-2-705/4/1/A, which is a bit of a mouthful, but most locals just call it the place near the store. We’ve been here for a good while now. The hallways aren't huge, and sometimes it gets crowded when several families come in at once, but that is just how it is in this part of town. The staff knows most of the regulars by name since they live just a few streets away. It’s a practical setup. We have the wards and the doctors' rooms laid out so things move as fast as they can. Sometimes the lift is a bit slow, so a lot of us just take the stairs. Being in Malakpet means there is always noise from the street, but once you are inside the patient rooms, it quietens down enough to rest. We aren't trying to be one of those huge corporate chains you see in the city center. This is just a local hospital for the people living around Akberbagh. We keep the lights on and the beds ready. It’s a lot of work keeping everything running, but we managed to make it work over the years. Nothing flashy, just a place to go when you're feeling unwell.
