Maa Tarini Kirana & General Stores

People in Prakash Nagar know where we are because we’ve been at this Begumpet address for a good while. It's 1-10-27/11, right in the middle of everything. My father started this and now I handle the daily stuff. It’s a kirana store, so we have all the grains, dals, and oils stacked up. The bags of rice are usually near the front because they’re heavy to move. We get a lot of people from the nearby houses coming in for their monthly groceries. I don't use any computer for the bills, just a pen and paper mostly. It feels more real that way. The ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it keeps us cool enough during the Hyderabad summers. Sometimes we run out of something and I have to tell the customers to come back tomorrow. It happens. We keep the general items like toothbrushes and batteries near the counter where it's easy to reach. The morning shift is the busiest when everyone wants fresh packets of curd. I usually drink my tea standing up while waiting for the next person to walk in. It is a simple business. We don't have fancy displays, just shelves filled with what people actually use in their kitchens. It gets a bit loud with the traffic outside but inside it’s just the smell of spices and soaps.
