Lakshmi Ganpathi Kirana & General Store

Amberpet is a crowded and old part of Hyderabad. Our store is on Rama Krishna Nagar, specifically at Shop No 2-2-185/20. It is a kirana store, so it is all about the daily essentials people need for their kitchens. I have lived in Hyderabad my whole life, and I like being in this neighborhood. The shop name is Lakshmi Ganpathi Kirana & General Store. It is a long name for a small place. I have big jars of colorful candies on the front counter for the school children who pass by. The rest of the shop is filled with sacks of dhal, rice, and bottles of cooking oil. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so I sit under the fan and read the newspaper when no one is around. I have a small wooden stool I sit on. The walls are lined with everything from toothbrushes to washing powder. I do not use any fancy apps to track my sales, just a blue pen and a notebook. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow street and the neighbors complain, so I have to hurry them up. I know the families around here well. I know who is having a party and who is sick just by what they buy from me. It is a simple life of buying and selling. I do not try to be anything I am not. The shop is just a place where you can get your groceries.
