Kumar Kirana & General Stores

We have been running Kumar Kirana & General Stores for a long time now at 12-11-629/47 in L Narayan Nagar. It is a small place in Parsigutta where we spend most of our day. Every morning we open up the shutters and start dusting the jars and shelves. The road outside can get quite busy and the dust just comes in. We keep all the basic things like rice, dals, soaps, and snacks that people in this part of Hyderabad need every day. There is no fancy computer here, just a simple counter and a notebook where we write things down. People from the neighborhood stop by on their way to work to pick up milk or cigarettes. Sometimes they stay for a few minutes to talk about the weather or local news. The Hyderabad heat can be quite bad in the afternoons, so we just sit under the fan and wait for the evening rush. Kids come in after school looking for small candies or biscuits. We know almost everyone who lives in the lanes of L Narayan Nagar by their face. Our shop at 12-11-629/47 is not hard to find if you are in the area. We stay open until about ten at night when the streets finally get quiet. It is a simple way to earn a living and we just focus on keeping the shelves full so nobody has to go far for their groceries.
