Our office is tucked away in Sai Ram Homes, which is right in Balaji Nagar over in Kukatpally. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but we like it that way because it stays a little quieter during the heavy work hours. We are located on the ground floor, G 1, so we see everyone coming and going from the other apartments. It feels more like a home than a regular office building, which probably explains why the kitchen always smells like someone's lunch. We have our desks set up in the main rooms, and there are wires running along the floors in a few places where we couldn't hide them. Most of us have been working here for a while, so we’ve gotten used to the specific sounds of the neighborhood, like the vegetable sellers passing by in the mornings. We don’t have a receptionist; usually, whoever is closest to the door just gets up to open it. It’s mostly computers and whiteboards covered in scribbles that only we really understand. Sometimes we stay late when a project is moving along, and the streetlights outside flick on one by one. It isn't a high-rise glass building, just a practical space where we can sit down and get our coding or technical work finished without too much fuss from the outside world.
