If you look for Pillar No. 72 near the APSRTC bus stand, you’ll find us right there in Balaji Nagar. It’s a busy spot because of the buses coming and going all day long. The air is always full of the sound of engines and people shouting for their stops. Inside the shop, it’s a bit quieter, but not by much. We deal with a lot of different products, so the shelves are usually packed from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. We use a tall wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top, and it creaks every time someone climbs it. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks in it from moving heavy crates around. We start our day early to catch the people coming off the first buses. It’s mostly just us keeping track of what’s sold and what needs to be ordered again. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a regular shop where we know our customers by name after they’ve been coming here for a few months. The breeze from the street brings in a bit of dust, so we are always wiping down the counters. When the evening rush hits, it gets pretty crowded in here, but we manage to help everyone eventually. By the time we pull down the shutters at night, the street is finally starting to quiet down a little bit. It's a long day, but it's what we do.
