K K Mart

K K Mart is a small grocery store we run at 194 Prakash Nagar. We are located in the Attapur area, not too far from Upperapally. It’s a residential neighborhood, so we see the same faces every single day. We try to keep the shelves stocked with the basics—milk, bread, eggs, and the usual spices. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how we stack things. Sometimes it feels a bit like a puzzle getting everything to fit. My wife handles the morning shift while I go to the wholesale market to pick up fresh produce. It’s a long day, starting around five in the morning. We don’t have a fancy billing system, just a simple machine that gets the job done. The kids from the nearby houses often come in for sweets after school. It’s nice to be part of the community like this. We know whose grandmother is sick and whose son just got a new job. We don’t do any big promotions. We just put a chalkboard outside with the daily prices. The floor is a bit uneven near the entrance, so we tell people to watch their step. It’s just a normal neighborhood mart. We’ve been here at number 194 for a few years and we plan on staying. It’s a good life, even if we are tired by closing time. We close up at ten.
