Jai Sri Peddamatalli Kirana & General Store is right at the Yousufguda Check Post. If you know Hyderabad, you know how crazy that intersection gets. The noise from the bikes and the autos never really stops until very late at night. The shop at 82/13 has been my second home. It is a small place, packed with everything from soap to rice. I usually sit on a small wooden stool behind the counter. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so I have to use a plastic reacher tool to grab the packets from the top. It is a bit messy sometimes with boxes stacked in the corners. I try to keep it organized but when the afternoon rush hits, everything goes out the window. People from the nearby apartments come in for their daily needs. Some of them have been coming for years, so I know exactly what they want before they even ask. We do not have fancy lights or air conditioning. Just a few tube lights and a ceiling fan that makes a clicking sound. It is a simple business. I do not think much about the future, just about getting the stock right for tomorrow. The heat in Yousufguda can be something else, but inside the store, among the sacks of grain, it feels okay. Just another day at the check post.
