Jai Hanuman Kirana & General Store

If you live around Street No 4 in Uppal, you probably have passed by Jai Hanuman Kirana & General Store a few times. We are right here in the Hyderabad - 500039 area. It is a neighborhood where people still stop and talk to each other while they are out buying groceries. Our shop is filled with various types of grains, cooking oils, and all the regular items you would expect to find in a local kirana. We spend a lot of time weighing out things and packing them into small bags for the neighbors. The Hyderabad heat can be quite something in the summer months, so we usually have a small radio playing in the background to keep us company while we wait for the evening rush. It is a family-run kind of place, so you might see different people behind the counter depending on the time of day. We don't really have a big sign or anything, just the usual stacks of boxes and jars of sweets near the front to catch the eye of the school children. The street outside can get a bit dusty when the wind blows, but we just keep the floor swept and the goods covered up as best as we can. Running a general store in Uppal means we get to know everyone's favorite brands and what they like to cook for dinner.
