Jai Bhagyasri General Store

I get here around seven in the morning to pull up the shutters. The sun usually hits the front of the shop at 4-5-767 pretty hard until noon. It is a bit noisy in Koti because of all the traffic, but you get used to the sound of the horns after a few years. We keep the basic stuff people need every day, like those small packets of biscuits, detergent, and sometimes fresh bread if the delivery guy shows up on time. Most of the people coming in are just neighbors from around the corner who forgot to buy sugar or something for their morning tea. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to fit everything in this small space. Sometimes I spend half the afternoon just rearranging the jars so I can find things faster when it gets busy in the evening. There is a lot of dust that comes in from the main road in Hyderabad, so I have to wipe down the counter several times a day. It is not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we know most of the faces. I usually sit on the stool by the entrance and watch the buses go by when it is quiet. It gets hot in the summer, and the small fan we have doesn't do much, but we manage. My family helps out when I need to go grab lunch or handle some paperwork for Jai Bhagyasri General Store.
