We are up on the 4th floor of the Kalpa Vruksha Estate in Himayath Nagar. You’ll find us right above the HDFC Bank. Taking the lift up is usually better than the stairs, especially in the summer heat. Our space is filled with tables, chairs, and lots of papers and drawings. Since we focus on design, there’s always something being sketched or built in a corner. It’s not a perfectly clean studio; there are scraps of material and pens scattered everywhere. We have big windows that let in some light, but they also show how busy Himayath Nagar is below us. The sounds of the street come up even to the fourth floor. We spend our days teaching or working on different layouts. It’s a pretty casual atmosphere. We don’t wear suits or anything like that. Most of us are just in jeans, trying to get the work done. The pantry area is small, but it’s where we all end up when we need a break from looking at screens or models. Sometimes the lift breaks down, and we have to trudge up the flights of stairs, which isn't fun at all. But we like the location because it’s easy for everyone to find. It’s just a place where people come to learn and create things without too much fuss or ceremony. We just keep at it every day.
