Balaji Sheet Profiles

We are out here in Ida Nacharam at Plot No 32. If you come down Road No 13, you cannot miss the sound of metal moving. It is an industrial area, so there is always dust and trucks passing by. We work with steel sheets and profiles. It is heavy work. Most of the day is spent checking dimensions and moving things around with the crane. The floor is always covered in small metal scraps. We wear heavy boots because you have to be careful where you step. It gets very loud when the cutters are running. You have to shout a bit to be heard over the noise. We have a small office in the corner with a desk and some old chairs. That is where the paperwork happens. It is hot in the summer because of the metal roof. We drink a lot of water from the big earthen pot. Neighbors from other plots stop by to borrow tools sometimes. We do not have a big sign or anything. Most people know we are here because of the stacks of sheets outside. We just do the work and load the trucks when they arrive. It is a bit messy, but that is how a profile shop is. We do not have air conditioning, just a big industrial fan that moves the hot air around. We stay here until the last truck is loaded and the gates are closed for the evening.
