Hkng Fabrication Works

Our shop is right at number 2, just opposite the bus stop in Old Bowenpally. It’s a noisy spot because of the buses and the welding we do. Hkng Fabrication Works has been here for a good bit. If you stand outside, you can hear the metal clanging all day. It gets pretty hot inside during the summer months, but we have a few big fans that help a little. We usually start early before the sun gets too high. People waiting for the bus often peek inside to see what we are making. Sometimes we’re working on gates, other times it’s window grills or just small repairs people bring in from the neighborhood. I’ve lived around here most of my life, so I know most of the faces that pass by. The floor is covered in scrap metal and sparks, so you have to watch where you step. It isn’t a clean office job, that’s for sure. My hands are usually covered in grease or soot by lunchtime. We eat our tiffins together in the back corner where it’s a bit quieter. There’s always someone coming by to ask if we can fix a broken hinge or weld a pipe. We just get on with it. It’s a steady life. The shop isn't much to look at, just some walls and a lot of tools, but it works for us and keeps us busy from morning till night.
