Our coffee business is located at Plot 320, which is Allusubha Bhagavan Nilayam on Road Number 8 in Vivekananda Nagar. If you are in Kukatpally, you probably know how busy it can get around here. We spend our days surrounded by the smell of coffee beans, which isn't a bad way to earn a living. The space is basically a house that we’ve converted to handle our operations. It isn't a huge factory, so we have to be smart about how we use the rooms. We handle everything from the roasting to the packing right here. Sometimes the machines are loud and the heat from the roaster makes the room pretty warm. We take turns watching the timers and making sure nothing burns. It is a lot of standing on your feet and lifting heavy bags of green beans. My back usually hurts by the end of the shift, but that is part of the job. We don’t have a fancy storefront where you can sit and drink, it is more about the production side of things. We just want to get coffee out to people who like it. There are a lot of other houses on Road 8, so we try to be respectful of the neighbors. It’s a small, one-person company setup, mostly, so I do a bit of everything from cleaning to accounting. It is a lot of work for one person.
