Grandcastings

Down here at 1-8-575/1 Ida Azamabad, things get pretty hot. Grandcastings is the kind of place where you’re always going to find some sand on the floor and soot on the walls. Casting is a heavy job. We spend our days around furnaces and molds, making sure the metal goes exactly where it’s supposed to. It’s not the kind of work you do if you’re afraid of getting dirty. Most of us have been doing this for a while, so we know the quirks of the old equipment we use. Azamabad is a busy area with a lot of noise, so we fit right in. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy brochures. We just show up, fire up the heat, and get to work on the pieces. There’s a certain way you have to handle the molds, and it takes time to learn it right. Sometimes things don’t turn out perfect, and we have to melt them down and start all over again. It can be frustrating, but that’s just the nature of the business. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things moving. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. When people ask what we do, we just point at the piles of finished castings by the door. That’s our life at the shop.
